In Honor of Service
Life at the center, home, and community has been a whirl wind which it always is at the end of the school year.
The second retirement from the City of Norman by Herman “Woody” Morgan the center’s “Keeper of the Gate” or as I should formally call his position “Custodian” was tough but I wish him the best.
Woody served the City of Norman and community rising to the rank of Fire Captain and then coming to the center to be my co worker and friend.
The guy could not quit until his last task was complete. He obsessed over getting my library work table mobile with the help of a couple of other retired firefighters who had to really “tweak” the old table legs to get them coasters working just right. How lucky can I and the community get?
Woody served in the United States Army during Vietnam and was a noble warrior and combat hero. He came home and continued his commitment to service to the City of Norman and community.
This Memorial Day weekend I hope that each and every one of you reflect on those that have served our country, gave the ultimate sacrifice of their lives or just came back home and kept giving.
Enjoy your second retirement Woody. You deserve it.
