From Wikipedia

Llewelyn Morris Humphreys (1899 – November 23, 1965) (also known as The Camel, The Hump and Murray Humphreys), was a Chicago mobster of Welsh descent who was the chief political and labor racketeer in the Chicago Outfit during Prohibition. His family immigrated from the village of Carno, in Powys, Wales.

A ruthless but clever man, Humphreys believed in killing only as a last resort. As Al Capone put it, “Anybody can use a gun. ‘The Hump’ can shoot if he has to, but he likes to negotiate with cash when he can.” Humphreys also did everything in his power to see that he and other Outfit members attracted as little press attention as possible.

By 1921, things had gotten a little too hot for him in Chicago. So, Murray left town for his brother’s home in Little Axe, Oklahoma. Taking a temporary job as a door-to-door salesman, Humphreys met an attractive young college student from Norman, Oklahoma, named Mary Brendle.

The meeting is 2:30pm Saturday, June 20 at 18800 E. Hwy 9 (First house east of Country Boy on the south side.)

Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP by calling Shoemaker at 579-2738. Also, please bring any information about Murray Humphreys or the Al Capone gang you might have.
