Stirrin things up!

By Joy Nix

I don’t know if you heard about it yet but the church mouse is aware of some juicy gossip! Now that I have your attention, read on for the rest of the story, as Paul Harvey would say.
A while back things got a little stirred up around this here church. The young folk and the old folk were mixin’ it up! I don’t know what this world is a-comin’ to now. When was the last time you saw a bunch of teenagers and a bunch of way over 30-somethings having a blast together and without alcohol or drugs? Well, that happened during our VBS Family Night. And a special shout out to Larry for DeeJaying for us “so you think you can sing” singers. Old folks was singin’ new songs, teens were singin’ old songs and there was a lot of toe tappin’, hand clappin’, pickin’ and a grinnin’ fun to be had all around.
Just think, I wonder what might happen next if the ages keep stirring up good feelings, laughter and camaraderie. Why the next thing you know, folks might come by, visit and have a look-see and want to get them a slice of that there Christianity. Our church might have to start a mission somewhere to minister to the truckloads that are brought in and they might share a little of what they ‘larned’ from us folk and some of their folks might take that across the world and well, who knows what might happen then. World peace, Christian Nations? I don’t rightly know but it sure sounds like a good thing overall.
Old folks keep sayin’, “hey” to the teens and teens keep sayin “back atcha”. Try sitting together durin’ our potluck meals. Both groups jest might find out you really like one another.
I don’t know what this world is a comin’ to, but on VBS Family Night, I liked what I saw it coming to! Here’s a dare for all ya’ll, no make that a double-dog-dare……Keep stirrin’ things up!
