State Rep. Shane Jett has announced his candidacy for the 5th Congressional District seat currently held by Rep. Mary Fallin.

Jett, a Republican from Tecumseh, represents a large part of Pottawatomie County and a portion of eastern Cleveland County.

Rep. Jett gained notoriety by opposing House Bill 1804, the Oklahoma Taxpayer & Citizen Protection Act of 2007, an anti-illegal immigration bill that received overwhelming bipartisan support from lawmakers. HB 1804 was authored by another Little Axe representative, State Rep. Randy Terrill.
