Lake Thunderbird State Park
Saturday, June 5th
9:00 am – Bird Walk. Please call 321-4633 or visit the Nature Center for details and to sign up.
11:00 am – Birds of Lake Thunderbird. Enjoy a slide presentation of birds that live around the lake.
1:00 pm – Plaster Casts. Make plaster of Paris casts of animal footprints. Ages 2 and up. 50¢ fee. Casts will require about 1 hour to set.
2:30 pm – Skins, Skulls, and Tracks. See what these three things can tell us about how an animal lives. All ages.
Saturday, June 12th
10:00 am – Tree Walk. What kinds of trees grow around the Nature Center? Join us on a walk around the area to see what we can find. Ages 4 and up.
11:00 am – Trees Through the Year. Learn about seasonal changes in the lives of trees. Ages 4 and up.
1:00 – Paint a Rock. Make your very own pet rock. Ages 4 and up. 50¢ fee. Allow time for paint to dry.
Saturday, June 19th
10:00 am – What’s a Solstice, Anyway? Learn what a solstice is, how it happens, and some ways people have celebrated them. Ages 5 and up.
11:00 am – Aliens Among Us. You may not believe your eyes when you see what small animals and plant parts look like under a microscope. Ages 6 and up.
7:30 pm – Evening Program. Summer Solstice Celebration at the Park. Hear about solstice observances around the world, past and present. Do you know any? Share them with the group. Then we’ll all watch together for the sun to set over the lake on (almost) the longest day of the year.
Monday, June 21st
1:00 pm – What’s a Solstice, Anyway? Learn what a solstice is, how it happens, and some ways people have celebrated them. Ages 5 and up.
Saturday, June 26th
2:00 pm – Oklahoma Insects. Learn about insects and see some of the many kinds found in Oklahoma. Ages 4 and up.
3:30 pm – How Many Legs? Get to Know the Arthropods. Learn about the other “bugs” besides insects. Ages 4 and up.
