Free Computer Classes
The Little Axe Community Center and the Norman Public Library will be teaming up to offer additional free computer classes at the center. The classes are limited to the first 10 people to call the center to enroll. The center phone number is 292-9770. All classes are from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
September 13 – Mouse Skills and Basic Windows
Intended for the computer NOVICE, this class will introduce the mouse and begin building mouse use skills. Participants will go on to explore the Windows XP Operating System and desktop. Topics such as personalizing the desktop, working with windows and making desktop icons will be covered. Registration is requested.
September 27 – File Management on the Computer
Students will learn to create, move, organize, rename and delete files. The class will practice saving files to different locations and different types of disks. The class is not for brand-new beginners; participants should be comfortable using a mouse and have some familiarity with a keyboard.
October 11– Microsoft Word 2007, Part 1
This Word processing class is for the beginning computer user. The class uses Microsoft Word 2007.
October 25– Microsoft Word 2007, Part 2
Learn the flexibility and time saving techniques of moving text and images from one place within a document to another or from one document to another. MS Word part 1 is a requested prerequisite.
November 8– Microsoft Word 2007 Part 3
Learn to use short cuts and other features such as bullets, numbering, spelling and grammar check, and the drawing functions of Microsoft Word. MS Word parts 1 & 2 are requested prerequisites.
November 22– Microsoft Word 2007 Part 4
Customize a document using page set-up, borders and shading. The class explores printing options, sets toolbars on the screen, and makes and uses simple tables. MS Word parts 1, 2 & 3 are requested prerequisites.
UPDATE – Yikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I already have 6 signed up before I left the center today!
