Labor Day Weekend Activities
LAKE THUNDERBIRD STATE PARK
NATURE CENTER
Saturday, September 4th
9:00 am – Bird Walk. Please call 321-4633 or e-mail for details and to sign up.
11:00 am – Birds of Lake Thunderbird. Enjoy a slide presentation of birds that live around the lake.
1:00 pm – Animal Clay Sculpture. Sculpt an animal of your choice out of self-hardening clay. Ages 4 and up. $1.00 fee. Please call or e-mail for reservation.
2:30 pm – Oklahoma Reptiles: Snakes and Lizards. Learn the characteristics of these reptile groups and meet the Nature Center’s resident representatives. All ages.
3:30 pm – Oklahoma Turtles. Meet the Nature Center’s 7 different kinds of turtles and watch some of them being fed.
Sunday, September 5th
1:00 pm – Aquatic Insects. Many kinds of insects live in water for all or part of their lives. What do they eat? How do they breathe? Find out at this special presentation.
2:00 pm – Plaster Casts. Make plaster of Paris casts of animal footprints. Ages 2 and up. 50¢ fee. Casts will require about 1 hour to set.
3:00 pm – Aquatic Insects. Repeat of the 1:00 program.
Monday, September 6th Bug Day
10:00 am – What Did That? Become a nature detective as we look for clues that insects and other small animals leave behind in our world. Ages 5 and up.
11:00 am – Oklahoma Insects. Learn about insects and see some of the many kinds found in Oklahoma. Ages 4 and up.
1:00 pm – Bug Bookmarks. Decorate your own one-of-a-kind bookmark. Ages 3 and up. 50¢ fee.
2:00 pm – Aquatic Insects. Many kinds of insects live in water for all or part of their lives. What do they eat? How do they breathe? Find out at this special presentation.
3:30 pm – How Many Legs? Get to Know the Arthropods. Learn about the other “bugs” besides insects. Ages 4 and up.
