Another tornado siren was erected last week here in Little Axe. The siren, located across the street from the Thunderbird Casino, has a range of up to two miles just like the other 60+ sirens recently installed in Norman.

A system test last Friday included a voice and siren alert. At a distance of about 1.5 miles, the voice alert was audible but I could not understand it. The siren seemed louder than the previous system, however the weather was calm and dry. Two other sirens could also be heard faintly as they started and stopped in succession.

Some of the replaced sirens are being acquired by hobbyists for restoration and personal use. Hopefully, not one of your neighbors.
