April Activities at Lake Thunderbird
Saturday, April 2nd
3:30 pm – Aliens Among Us. You may not believe your eyes when you see what small animal and plant parts look like under a microscope. Ages 6 and up.
Sunday, April 3rd
1:00 pm – Bird Walk. Different day and time than usual, due to conflicting events. Have a look at the spring arrivals, before the new leaves are out to hide them!
3:00 pm – Birds of Lake Thunderbird. Enjoy a slide presentation of birds that live around the lake, including recorded calls.
Saturday, April 16th
9:00 am – 1:00 pm – Clean Sweep. Please come help us clean up the Park in preparation for the summer season. Individuals, families, groups of all kinds – everyone is welcome and needed! Check in at Crow’s Corral.
Sunday, April 17th
1:00 pm – Plaster Casts. Make plaster of Paris casts of animal footprints. Ages 2 and up. 50¢ fee. Casts will require about 1 hour to set.
1:30 pm – Skins, Skulls, and Tracks. See what these three things can tell us about how an animal lives. All ages.
Saturday, April 23rd
1:00 pm – Easter Egg Hunt. Meet at Crow’s Corral for this annual event. Kids hunt for candy and toy-filled eggs in age groups of 2-3, 4-5, 6-7, and 8-10. No toddlers under age 2, please. All ages hunt at once, so don’t be late!
3:30 pm – Animal Charades. Act like an animal and see if others can guess which it is. Ages 2 and up.
Saturday, April 30th – Arbor Day Observance
10:00 am – What Is a Tree? Learn about the parts of trees and how they live. Ages 4 and up.
11:00 am – What Are Trees Good for? The role of trees in the environment. Ages 4 and up.
Discovery Cove Nature Center is located off Hwy 9, about .9 miles down Clear Bay Ave, almost to the boat ramp and across from Turkey Pass Campground.
Crow’s Corral is located on Clear Bay Ave, across from the riding stables.
