Frogs, Turtles and Birds at the Lake

NATURE CENTER ACTIVITIES
MAY 2011
Saturday, May 7th Frog Day
Frogs and tadpoles will be on display and froggy activity sheets for kids will be available throughout the day.
10:00 am and 1:30 pm – Frogs. A presentation about frogs. All ages welcome.
11:00 am and 2:30 pm – Frog Crafts. A children’s craft session for ages 4 and up (3 with adult help). $1:00 fee.
Saturday, May 14th International Bird Migration Day, Part 1
9:00 am – Bird Walk. Come see what birds can be found in the Nature Center vicinity.
11:00 am – Birds of Lake Thunderbird. Enjoy a slide presentation of birds that live around the lake, with recorded calls.
1:00 pm – Hummingbird Feeders. Make a simple hummingbird feeder out of a baby food jar. Ages 6 and up . $1.00 fee (50¢ if you bring your own baby food jar).
Sunday, May 15th Bird Migration Day, Part 2
1:00 pm – Birds for Kids. Information and activities about birds, for children ages 2 to 6.
2:00 pm – Bird Bookmarks. Decorate your own one-of-a-kind bookmark. Ages 3 and up. 50¢ fee.
Saturday, May 28th Turtle Day
11:00 am and 1:00 pm — Oklahoma Turtles. Meet the Nature Center’s 7 different kinds of turtles and watch some of them being fed.
2:30 pm – Turtle Crafts. – A children’s craft session for ages 4 and up (3 with adult help) $1:00 fee.
Monday, May 30th
10.00 am – Nature Walk. Weather permitting, join us for a short walk around the Nature Center area to see what plant and animal life can be found. All ages.
11:30 am – Paint a Rock. Decorate your very own pet rock. Ages 4 and up. 50¢ fee. Allow time for paint to dry.
1:30 pm – Skins, Skulls, and Tracks. See what these three things can tell us about how an animal lives. All ages.
3:00 pm – Aliens Among Us. You may not believe your eyes when you see what small animal and plant parts look like under a microscope. Ages 6 and up.
